With summer ending, it’s time to do this again. I actually forgot about previous season’s post but miharusshi reminded me and suggested we do it every season going forward. I’m cool with that so here it is!
Let’s get to the explanations. We’ll classify the ones we watched and tried watching into classes which indicate how we felt about them. Here are the classes and my lame attempt at having fun with the explanations:
- Class S – Special. This class is for the Special ones. Those few that stand out from the rest. The really superb ones. Favorite-worthy.
- Class A – Almost amazing. They may not be special, but they are very good. They are at least above average.
- Class B – Better than C. They aren’t amazing. They’re just above being only enjoyable.
- Class C – Cnjoyable cnough. They are cnjoyable, but just that. There are some things missing from it that prevent it from being more — like how how an ‘e’ missing a line is a ‘c’.
- Class D – Dropped. Due to various reasons, we felt like our time would be better served doing something else rather than watching them.
If something’s not on someone’s list, either that person forgot to include it or didn’t try it.
Let’s do this in alphabetical order.

This season’s offerings weren’t for me. There were a lot of well-made shows, but most just didn’t align with my taste. I honestly think Hanayamata, Sabagebu!, and even Majimoji Rurumo are really well-made even if I dropped them. I even consider them better in terms of execution than a number of the shows I finished this season. It’s almost unquestionable if you compare them to Glasslip and Tokyo ESP.
~S CLASS~ none
~A CLASS~ Barakamon, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
~B CLASS~ Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Crystal, Hanamonogatari, Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus, Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen, Yama no Susume 2nd Season, Zankyou no Terror
~C CLASS~ Aldnoah.Zero, Ao Haru Ride, Glasslip, Sword Art Online II, Tokyo ESP, Tokyo Ghoul
~D CLASS~ Akame ga Kill!, Hanayamata, Majimoji Rurumo, Sabagebu!

Summer 2014 wasn’t all that great for me. That, said there were still enjoyable shows I had fun watching. Some shows, well, I feel like they’re not even worth mentioning in the dropped section. By the way, since the S class is for “Special” shows, I put Akame in there , although it might not have been the best in terms of execution or presentation, but because it connected with me somehow XD.
~S CLASS~ Akame ga Kill!
~A CLASS~ Barakamon, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Hanamonogatari, Rail Wars!, Zankyou no Terror
~B CLASS~ Ao Haru Ride, Hanayamata, Jinsei
~C CLASS~ Aldnoah.Zero, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma :star: Illya 2wei!, Glasslip, Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?, Sword Art Online II, Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo ESP
~D CLASS~ DRAMAtical Murder, Re:_Hamatora, Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance

I wasn’t really impressed with this season’s shows in general, but there are a few of them that I can happily recommend to my friends who do not regularly watch anime.
P.S. I had high expectations from ZanTero, but was not delighted with the changes since the appearance of another character-with-a-number-as-name.
P.P.S. I had to drop many shows due to my busy schedule. In fact, this is the season where I dropped more than ten shows as early as episode 1. But I might give some of them a second try.
~S CLASS~ Barakamon
~A CLASS~ Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
~B CLASS~ Akame ga Kill!, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma :star: Illya 2wei!, Re:_Hamatora, Sabagebu!, Tokyo Ghoul, Zankyou no Terror
~C CLASS~ Aldnoah.Zero, Ao Haru Ride, Glasslip, Sword Art Online II, Tokyo ESP
~D CLASS~ Bakumatsu Rock, DRAMAtical Murder, Free!: Eternal Summer, Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita., Jinsei, Momo Kyun Sword, Rail Wars!, Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?, Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance, Shirogane no Ishi: Argevollen, Shounen Hollywood: Holly Stage for 49
And that is all. Let’s hope something saves anime for the nth time this Fall 2014!
