014. Why I'll forget Aldnoah Zero (until the second season airs)...

Want something that’s anticlimactic and completely lacking in character development?

Try Aldnoah Zero.

It’s mediocre and bland; so bland, in fact, that it never attempts to diverge from the path of mediocrity.

I don’t understand the praise. The characters have no emotions. The story is there and just barely passable because it does… nothing. What it does… doesn’t seem to matter, because… The show, itself, is completely devoid of intrigue, enigma, etc. It’s just there.

When I watched it, I zoned out.

When I tried to rate it, my mind came to a blank.

When I finished the show, I was left without words. Stuff happened, but it didn’t seem to matter. The emotion all seemed feigned. There was no attachment built up.

Oh, it was cliche. Oh, I expected that. Oh, was that character development? …Oh, she’s dead. Oh, he’s dead. Oh, he’s mad. Oh, second season. Really? Okay.

It’s sooooooo decent. That’s really all I can say.

Did I rate it accurately? I’m not sure, because I have no attachment to the show. Is the fact that it was decent and didn’t try not to be… Is this a flaw? Because it made it a lot less grueling on my side.

I don’t know. Maybe it would be disappointing if I actually cared.

Nothing noteworthy. I’ll forget it. Quickly.

I found pleasure in the mecha transformation scene, which made me think Digimon. Then I realized what I was watching when it didn’t yell, “MECHA GRAYMON.” I didn’t care again after that.

If you enjoyed this show, good for you.

I don’t get it.

In conclusion, I would like to quote something to this whole anime: “Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have.”

Love ya, Hermione.

FINAL SCORE: 5/10
