There is a Pink Floyd tribute band based at the World Academy W.
It is made up of:
- England – Lead Guitar.
- America – Bass.
- Italy – Rhythm Guitar.
- France – Keyboards.
- Germany – Drums.
- Japan – Saxophone.
- Hungary, Ukraine and Liechtenstein – Female Backing Vocals**.
Pink Floyd are from England, so naturally he plays lead guitar. He sings David Gilmour’s vocals.
Floyd are also massive in America (The Dark Side of the Moon spent 741 consecutive weeks in the Billboard album charts). Money launched Floyd in America and the song is known for its iconic bass-line, which is why America plays bass. He sings Roger Waters’s vocals.
The Live at Pompeii film saw the band perform in the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy, and was released in 1972 – the year before Dark Side was released. In 1989 Pink Floyd played a televised concert in Venice, which is another reason why Italy plays rhythm guitar. He sings Syd Barrett’s vocals.
The first production performed by the Ballet National de Marseille was The Pink Floyd Ballet, and the band played at the first five shows, and four more soon after. When I was on a school trip in France I heard Pink Floyd on the coach-driver’s radio, something I didn’t expect. This is why France plays keyboards. He sings Rick Wright’s vocals.
In 1990, Roger Waters performed The Wall – Live in Berlin to commemorate the fall of The Berlin Wall. This is why Germany plays drums. He sings Nick Mason’s vocals.
Floyd have played in Japan, and he is the only nation who can play a wind instrument. This is why he plays saxophone. He represents the other male ‘members’ of Pink Floyd.
Hungary, Ukraine and Liechtenstein represent the female backing singers Pink Floyd have used since the early 1970s. They share co-lead vocals on The Great Gig in The Sky.
Canada sings Roy Harper’s vocals on Have a Cigar because it kind of sounds like a mix of Waters’s and Gilmour’s voices.
