TLDR VERSION:
HUMANS ARE EMBARGOED BY BATTLESHIP WAIFUS WITH ADVANCED TECH. A HERO HUMAN MEETS ONE OF THESE WAIFUS AND BECOMES HER CAPTAIN. HE THEN GOES OUT TO DEFEAT THIS FLEET WITH THE POWER OF HUMAN EMOTIONS AND AMASSES A HAREM FLEET OF BATTLESHIP WAIFUS. 8.14/10 GREAT
- ANIMATION: 7/10 GOOD
I’ll start by saying this is rendered in that god-awful cel shaded 3D style. If it wasn’t evident already, I hate this style. However, I give this anime props in the respect that it manages it fairly well. You can tell it’s 3D, but after a while you don’t really notice it. It flows a lot like traditional animation, unlike Knights of Sidonia which felt really slow or awkward in the animation.

Wasn’t spectacular, and wasn’t bad either. At parts it felt kind of jumpy and the goal wasn’t always clear, but there’s a general progression of things. I felt like it resolved things pretty okay though.

There’s a lot of technology, weapons, sciencey things, and anthropomorphic battleship waifus. It’s a pretty cool package of conceptual shit. I dug it.

The fights are cool in a sense that they’re tactical fights. Like, ship fights. It’s one of those things I find fascinating. I mean, there’s also actiony fights too, if you don’t consider hundreds of missiles exploding to be actiony.

Lots of human sentimental shit. It’s not really sad per se, but there are dynamic changes in characters and whatnot. It’s the “feelgood” kind of feels.

Starting out, I felt like this series was going to be a bunch of serious ass battleship waifus duking it out, so I was pleasantly surprised to find humor later on. It’s not a superfunny series, but there’s some cute comic relief in there.
