There’s a lady in a kimono who is sitting next to a maple tree. I have no idea who she is though. Another weirdo maybe? Knowing this show, it’s most definitely another weirdo.
It doesn’t take long for Kohina, who is look especially cute in her straw man outfit, and Kokkuri-san to stumble upon this woman. She tells them that the leaves on this tree are red all year long. Why? Mysterious reasons are the answer she gives, so that is the reason I’m going with too! She was supposed to meet someone at the three, but they never showed up so she’s been waiting at there for a long, long time.
So long, that she no longer remembers how he looks like. I kind of love her now. I have no idea what her name is, but I kind of love her. She has this mysterious vibe to her, but she’s an airhead. It’s cute. Kokkuri-san and Kohina can’t spend all day with her though, because there’s a sale for ramen cups and they’re going to go splurge on great savings. The Maple Tree lady can’t leave for certain reasons, so she asks Kohina and Kokkuri-san to ask around for the guy she was waiting for. She even hands them a picture that she drew a long time ago.
She’s an airhead, with great drawing skills. It would be funny if it turns out to be Shigaraki. He needs some love and since Kokkuri-san is no longer a woman, this new girl seems like a good choice for him. She’s no Kokkuri-san, but what can you do. Some characters are just so adamant about being male that they have to ruin my ship…..
Anyways, the maple tree lady’s name is Kureha. I’m kind of surprised that she even remembered it. It’s written as red leaves, but pronounced as Kureha.
Shigaraki is here! Eh? Don’t tell me I’m right about him being the mysterious guy. I want him to have someone, but I also want my ship to happen even when it won’t. It’s all very complicated, but it is what it is.
They visit Tengu who knows everything that happens in the mountains and he agrees to help for three photos of handsome young boys. Why are all of the spirits in this show weird? Normally I’d laugh, but this Tengu guy seems to like illegal activities so I’m really sure how I show feel about this. I mean, how young is he asking for? Choir boys, he likes choir boys. This Tengu is a straight up pedo. Kokkuri-san thankfully starts fighting him.
Since they don’t have any photos, because seriously why would they, Kokkuri-san ends up having to dress up like a kid to appease the Tengu. He’s cute as a kid too. The man she was waiting for died a long time ago. Now Kureha is bound to a tree waiting for a man that will never show up. How sad. I wonder if she could get bound to Kohina and go to the house so she isn’t so lonely anymore.
Kokkuri-san tells Kureha what he’s learned. Even though she already figured it out, she still cries. She’s been waiting for a long time for nothing, so it’s understandable that she’s upset. Shigaraki is there to the rescue though as he offers to call her mystery man for her so she can say goodbye. Or something.
Shigaraki is a priest, so doing thigns like this is normal. Alright! Time to see him do something awesome! He brings out his rosary and uses his phone to call the other side for a delivery. Considering how Kokkuri-san used google in the first episode, I should have realized that a phone would be used here. So he calls them and they hang up the moment they hear his name.
Kokkuri-san smooths things over and learns that the Kureha’s boyfriend came back as a tree. The same one she’s been standing next to for all this time. Before her boyfriend left, he told her that her name will be the first thing that he says, so it’s cute that he’s now a tree and that only has red leaves. Red leaves = Kureha. My heart swayed a bit there.
Meanwhile, Inugami, who ran away from home in the last episode, is hanging out with my favourite little alien Yamamoto-kun. Yamamoto tries to get him to stop being stubborn and return home, but Inugami won’t until they come for him. And by ‘they’ I mean Kohina.
After walking around the world aimlessly, he matures a bit and heads home. Now the gang is reunited, which is good because the next episode is the second last one. We still haven’t seen the crow (?) yet, so maybe he’s going to show himself then.
Overall, the episode was cute. I thought Kureha would join Kohina, so to see this kind of resolution was nice. It was even nicer because Shigaraki wasn’t her love interest. All it took was one episode, but that’s all I apparently needed to want Shigaraki to only be with female Kokkuri-san. It will never happen though, which is just as well. Every ship I end up joining is a sinking one.
I wonder what will happen in the next one. A new character will probably be introduced, but that won’t be enough time for us to fully appreciate them. Okay, that’s not true. One episode is more than enough, but I’m just saying that it isn’t because I want more Gugure! Kokkuri-san in my life.
