Dear Netflix,
Thank you, from this coy boy, for finally investing more time and programming into adding more anime series to Netflix. This anime would have gone unwatched had it not appeared in the Anime category. I really appreciate that show was very enthralling. I binged it in a day or two. My GPA is pissed.

Now that is out of the way its time to talk about the actual reason for this post, Ghost Hunt! This show is, in my opinion, absolutely outstanding. It was a show I hadn’t heard of at all and from the thumbnail on Netflix I was extremely intrigued. Based off the picture, I knew I would be interested in pursuing the show because there were supernatural themes, which happen to be a favorite of mine. I’m very glad I took the plunge on this show.
This show features a young student Mai Taniyama who likes to tell ghost stories with her friends after school. She stumbles into a situation that pits her against an actual supernatural force. To pay a debt to Kazuya Shibuya affectionately nicknamed Naru, Mai begins working for the Shibuya Psychic Research Center. Naru is the 17-year-old owner of a paranormal research agency that helps dispel spirits at a clients request. They assemble the most interesting team of supernatural fighting characters I have ever witnessed, a teenage catholic priest exorcist, a rockstar Monk, a shrine maiden, and a television medium. Does that not sound like ish is gonna go down? The answer is of freaking course ish goes down! What you do you expect with such a supernaturally charged cast?
The show has very deep and emotional stories throughout. I will admit there were times I wish I could completely erase Mai from the show because she always acts like she is on the moral high ground no matter whats going on and lets EVERYBODY know it. The multi-part arcs, I guess you could call them, are super cool and offer a very in depth history and and set up for each case. The dark and supernatural themes lead to a very thriller-esque show that really allows the audience to get invested in the plot and also try to guess the mystery.
I give this show an 7.8/10
The only reason I don’t give it higher rating is Mai’s nagging, though this may be a byproduct of the english dubbed version I watched. I would absolutely recommend this series to a friend.
