Hi Everyone! Sup wit chu?
So, Supanova was on in Brisbane this weekend! I love Supanova! I go to the Brisbane Supanova every year. Just to see the people, and the costumes, and also to buy things! because Supanova is always on just before Christmas: prime buying things time!
For those who aren’t aware, Supanova is a Pop Culture Expo, held all over Australia throughout the year. It is an expo showing stars and famous types, cosplay, anime, art, books, TV, Movies, Pop Culture, comic books, fan clubs and a billion other things. It is different to the Comic-Con, and has been going in Brisbane since 2000! But this year is the first where it is actually at the convention centre, instead of the RNA showgrounds in Brisbane. This is a change for the better. The convention centre is air conditioned (a MUST for the climate here right now), and has better parking, and is right in the city. Supanova is on over 3 days, and sadly we apparently went on the day where the least exciting guests and panels were on. But we thoroughly enjoyed it though!
So, Ley and I went to Supanova to look at pretty things. I bought a couple things, and we took many photos of people’s costumes. I’m dead scared of asking people for photos, because even though that’s kinda why they dress up, I feel like I’m bothering people. So Ley asked for all the photos, and I just awkwardly stalked pictures from next to her… so subtle
First of all, I’ll show you a little baby haul. I bought a couple of things. I can’t go anywhere without buying stuff. I did go specifically to visit the Black Milk stall because they were near the door. Also, I love them too much! I wear BM clothes probably 5 days out of 7. I have a slight addiction. The Mega Hotties (the BM Customer Service Team) were there, taking photos, being generally amazing, and selling some of the licenced gear. Their amazing photographer Bonnie was also there, taking photos and videos and generally documenting the day, and it was lovely to see them all hanging out, instead of just stalking all of their instagrams all the time :) It was lovely to duck into their little stall and say hi, touch all the shiny nylon and buy a cute Supanova exclusive Space invaders swim. I also ran into the Emperor himself, Black Milk Creator jL (James Lillis), and stole a photo with him. He was actually having a chat with someone else who was also wearing BM clothing, but I stole him for a photo. Because I’m just like that. I was wearing BM too, it’s justified!
I also purchased: comic books, an alpaca and some prints of Sherlock and Sailor Moon. I think that’s everything I got. We wandered around for a VERY long time just being overwhelmed and not really getting anything because it was just so amazing and busy.
We also saw so many amazing costumes, and so many talented people!
We have a great photo of the both of us with Gollum: in both photos, one of us had our eyes closed. Best. Bloggers. Ever….
And finally, we caught the end of Jack Gleeson’s Panel, he seemed like a lovely chap, very friendly and very lovely. Nothing like the actual King Joffrey in Game of Thrones. I may have named my yellow alpaca ‘Joffrey’ after him by accident. We also saw Jeremy Shada (Finn from Adventure time), but sadly, didn’t think of taking a photo of him. We also missed out on James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley from Harry Potter) because they were there on the Sunday. All the sadface!
So, Did you attend Supanova? Upload a photo for us to see! Or tag us on facebook or Instagram in your pics so we can see your outfit! Let us know who you would have loved to see the most!
It was a long but wonderful day, and I’ve put a million more photos down below!
