What is Monitacon ?
A fan-run anime and video game convention
How did you come up the idea of Monitacon?
n 2010, I went to my first convention Animazement. I thought to myself, we need something like this in my area. After a few years of attending and working at conventions, I knew that I could do it. So, last year, I made the commitment to get Monitacon started.
How many years has Monitacon been around?
The idea has been around since 2010 but the first year was last year in 2013
About how many people did you have at Monitacon last year?
There was 424 attendees made their way out to our initial convention. I think that was great for our first year!
How many people are you expecting this year?
Honestly , I’m not sure. I hope that we at least get around the same number or more.
Can you tell us a little about Monitacon?
Monitacon is a fun, family-friendly convention for all ages. We like to get input from our attendees on what they would like to see and do.
What are the events this year?
We have several events going on. Uncle Yo will be running some panels and doing a comedy hour. There will also be video game tournaments, a Cosplay contest, panels, a maid cafe, and we will have door prizes at the end of the night.
How much is it to get in at the door?
$15.00. Children 10 and under are free with a paying adult
Why is the Monitacon only one day? Are you planning sometime in the future to have Monitacon open for more than one day?
Well, right now we are only one day because be don’t have the numbers of attendees to sustain a second day. If we continue to grow and the attendees ask for a second day I will gladly provide it. I will also work hard to get the guests that they would like.
