Well that’s a weird episode title. It wasn’t particularly representative of the episode either, since only the beginning and a flashback actually took place in the bath. I’m cool with that though, I came for the story, not fanservice. (Though the strategic placement of the cat was funny.)
Things are really starting to pick up in this episode. The community started to take it’s first steps forward, symbolized by the implementation of the water tree Izayoi won in the first episode, we get more insight into the character’s gifts, they manage to win their first real game against another community and Izayoi and Jin start a high stakes plan to defeat all of the Demon Lords.
Speaking of high stakes, Izayoi doesn’t do things by halves does he? Seriously, in the first episode he fights and beats a god. In the second he meets a Demon Lord and instantly wants to fight her. In this episode he hatches a plan that will utterly destroy the community if it fails and enacts it before even talking to Jin about it. If he weren’t so confident or obviously strategically minded I’d wonder if he was an idiot. I do wonder how much of it is for his own sake and how much is for the community.
As far as the gifts themselves go we’re getting some new info pretty quickly. In the last episode we found out that You is able to use the abilities of animals she has befriended and this time we learn about Asuka’s “Control” ability, which is apparently not limited to living things. Pretty awesome. We’re still in the dark about Izayoi’s abilities, aside from what appears to be super strength but is more likely something like gravity manipulation or illusions or something. And we still have pretty much no idea about either Jin Russel or Black Rabbit’s abilities.
As for the episode’s events I’m glad they gave the tiger guy a licking, though the fact that he had originally started off as a tiger was a surprise to me. Guess we know what that vampire girl Demon Lord’s ability is. And apparently Jin knows her somehow. I’m looking forward to learning more about her- and Jin for that matter. I like him.
Well, that’s it for now I guess. I hope you guys are liking the show so far, and make sure you take a look at my Facebook page and Twitter. They should be able to be found in the blog’s “About” section. Until next time, have a great day. Mattane!
