Just wow.
I thought that maybe “Your Lie in April” would be the frontrunner this fall season. I was wrong – Parasyte has definitely exceeded my expectations, and is currently my top pick for this anime season. It has come with not only finesse but a maturity that is very seasoned and enjoyable.
The characters are definitely well-fleshed, but there are still problems, particularly with disinteresting side characters. The setting is definitely integrated into the story, but could still be elaborated on. Of course, like everything else that has only begun, I only expect this to rise as the series progresses.
The writing was good, suited to the show, but really nothing that bedazzled me – it was pretty standard fare in the world of Japanese animation, but certainly of a higher grade.
Parasyte has premiered with a bold, polished entry into the fall season, not only proving how well certain ideas can be, but also when executed correctly.
*Be forewarned, this show is not for an audience that is not familiar with anime. It is definitely more of a show that one would watch after being immersed and fluent in the medium. Of course, it is still possible to watch and enjoy it without, but it is not the best “first anime”.
