This is my amazing idea for a fansubber game: Rip off Pokemon and Terra Battle, add in memes/fansubbers/in-jokes, receive game.
- Premise is that you are a fansub group leader (Pokemon Trainer) and your “fansubmon” are your group members (Pokemon).
- Your player character’s default name would be Chihiro.
- Since Chihiro’s group leader is a guy who pretended to be a girl and posted on teen suicide websites under a girl’s name, you would not be able to pick a gender for Chihiro. GENDER IS A SOCIAL CONSTRUCT ANYWAY.
- In Yellow, Chihiro-kun’s starting Pokemon would be Jaka. Duh.
- Your rival’s default name would be Commie and their starting Pokemon would be cryptw.
- Paying respects to the infamous “Red/Ash kills Blue/Gary’s Raticate” theory, cryptw would of course randomly stop appearing as one of Commie’s Pokemon, seemingly replaced with RHExcelion.
- As Chihiro-kun, you would go around to anime communities (cities) and defeat Cartel Leaders at the Cartel Gyms while collecting new fansubmon for your group.
- Since Chihiro-kun is anti-fansub cartel, the Fansub Centers and Fansub Marts (Poke Centers and Poke Marts) would be anti-cartel fansub groups who help you out. Like… fansub joints…?
- Rather than normal “levels”, Fansubmon would have ego levels. Defeating Cartel Leaders gives you Cartel Badges which increases your fansub street cred, thus forcing Fansubmon of higher ego levels to listen to you.
- Fansubmon would be named/modeled after fansub personalities and start with 1 fansub job – Timer/Typesetter/Encoder/Translator or Editor (equal to how Pokemon are have types like Normal, Dragon, etc).
- Each Fansubmon can have 1-2 evolutions that allow them to change their job. (Copy/pasted from Terra Battle.)
- Aoshen, who mastered All the Arts of Fansubbing, would be like Missingno or something since mastering every art is clearly fucking hacking.
- Fansubmon modeled after speed subbers would have higher speed and lower accuracy. Fansubmon modeled after slow subbers would have the reverse. (Runsipcat confirmed for highest accuracy in the game? www)
- The Indigo Plateau would be BakaBT and the Elite 4 would be BakaBT mods cause getting through them will immortalize Chihiro-kun on the BBT tracker. (The tracker I guess would be the trainer hall of fame equivalent?)
- Nyaa can be Professor Oak?! Or Bill? Or someone?
- Funi or Crunchyroll or [something] would be Team Rocket.
- How about Crunchyroll? Then Tofusensei could be Giovanni, and try to use his Kickstarted pick up artist skills on Chihiro-kun. (Too soon?)
- The Legendary Fansubmon who roam the wild and appear randomly with max level ego should really be literally anyone who was in Shinsen (Vincent especially), but I doubt any of those names would ring a bell to modern fansubbers and fansub downloaders… Perhaps in the game they should be like Daiz, Dork_sage, and a clone of jaka called “HorribleSubs Leader” instead? (Perhaps an item called the “4chan Spray” would repel weaker Fansubmons and attract the Legendary Egos to you?)
- Fansubmon cannot mate, reproduce, lay eggs, etc. (For obvious reasons.)
Bonus Round: Fansubmon Gold/Silver/Crystal
- The main character would be a Cartel Illuminati.
- Fansub Centers from the previous game which were run by anti-Cartel fansub groups would become gyms, and Cartel gyms from the previous game would become Fansub Centers and Fansub Marts.
- After beating the G/S/C BakaBT Mods, you’d be directed towards Mt. Silver. Chihiro would be there now going by the name “CoalGirl.”
