Script:
Hey guys, the name’s Ikerot. I apologize in advance for the lack of editing as my computer is currently in its death bed. All of this comes from my laptop and the audio is from my iphone, which makes me a bit sad considering the fact that it sounds as good as a frickin’ Yeti.
Anyways, some days ago, I watched the first episode of Akatsuki no Yona. After reading the summary of this anime, I was set out on hating it. But after the third watch, I thought to myself, “It’s an okay anime.”
The first thing that came into my head when the opening started was Fushigi Yuugi. The only comparison I could make was the fact that the main character was a female who happened to be a princess, she then goes on a journey accompanied by a group of men who may or may not have some interest in her.
The overall episode was a drag for me to watch and that stems the summary and from Yona herself. I dislike these type of underdog characters, especially when they’re whiny as a motherfucker. Oh yeah, she will be whining for a good 5 episode before finally doing something good for once. And if she doesn’t, I will print out this script and record myself eating it.
This episode could’ve been better if I hadn’t read the summary. I knew that Son Wok was going to kill King II, which is a great name by the way. I can’t say that it wasn’t predictable. The frickin’ summary spoiled the entire thing.
Plot-wise, it’s very basic. As I’ve said, Yona’s probably gonna whine and annoy the shit out of Son Hak, or she might be grieving for her father’s death. Yeah, I think Yona’s gonna be grieving for one episode and then try to act as if it didn’t happen the next. But I might be pulling this out of my butt so take it with a grain salt.
Back to the whole basic plot. It’s obvious that she’s going to fall for Son Hak towards the end of the season, but she’ll still have feelings for the man who killed her father and will probably be conflicted by it. I mean, I know that he killed your dad and all, but come on, he’s pretty hot.
One thing that did get to me was during the murder of King II. Yona witnesses the whole entire scene, rushes to her dad and tells Son Wok to call a doctor. I know she was in denial for the most part, but it was just funny to me. Also, I can’t tell whether Son Wok is complete bonkers or not. When Yona was going to get executed by these soldiers who came out of nowhere, I thought to myself, “What, Son Wok? You’re so much of a pussy that you’re not even going to kill her yourself? Douchebag. Asshole.” And if Yona had say something like that, instant friendship between me and her. I forget every bad thing about her.
And that’s my thoughts on the first episode. I give this anime a lot of shit, but I’ll continue watching it because I like the art, the music is pretty nice. And I also want to see that dude with the mask, he looks badass. I may need to read the manga too.
Anyways, I hoped you guys enjoy this. Give me feedback down below, tell me what’d you think about this anime and we can talk. I love conversations. My name is Ikerot, and I will be signing out.
