Yesterday was my last day on my work term with the summer camps. And on my last day, I had to make a little presentation to share what I did during my time there since May. So I thought I’d be interesting to take that to a grander scale and talk about things I did and milestones I came across over the summer, kind of like those silly presentations you had to do in grade school.
Started this blog
Yeah so this blog started as one post, a post on how to get into robotics that I wrote up for a friend. I thought people would enjoy it. And then anime club became a big thing and I started writing about that. Then I wrote some more, and found cool people to read and have a conversation with. This blog has opened up quite a few communities I never knew existed, and I’m really enjoying it.
Inherited an anime club
On that same note, I became president of the university’s anime club, which I write about quite a bit.
Finally watched Evangelion
And with that, a whole lot more anime than I used to. It’s good to finally watch a show that’s been so influential to the industry and is considered a must-watch.
Turned 21
Even though I’ve been able to drink in Canada for two years, now I can do it legally in the US too. This also marks all those “you’re old enough to do this” ages, so now I will feel old constantly.
Took the plunge and moved in with my boyfriend
And it’s actually been OK. I was wary at first but we’ve been able to work it out with only a couple minor problems.
Worked with $10k robots
Working with the NAO robots has been such a privilege, and I am very proud that I got to be a female role model for any girls looking to get into STEM careers.
Got my first planner
I bought my first planner from Paperchase, the start of an obsession with planners and Filofaxes, I’m assuming. I’ve already got my eye on getting a Finsley or Original (not sure what colour yet) for Christmas present for myself.
That’s my life, what about you? Have you done anything this summer that you’re really proud of? Anything coming up soon?
